About Teacher
I’m Sophie, a private piano teacher in the St George area of Sydney. My passion is music and providing the tools for people, especially children, to have a lifelong enjoyment of music, creating, and playing the piano. Having had years of experience working with young children, my approach is tempered with understanding and respect for individual personalities and needs. I work with each student to set personalised musical goals, and extend themselves to be well-rounded musicians. The focus is not on grades, or competition but growing each student as a musician. I have completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours) majoring in Pedagogy (teaching!) and Performance at UNSW, 8th Grade Piano Performance with Trinity Guildhall, and the Certificate of Performance with AMEB. I currently enjoy playing live soul/jazz/funk keys for The Phoenix Lights Band. I’ve been sharing my love of music with my piano students (even award winning students) since 2012 and I now extend an invitation to you and your children to join me in cultivating an appreciation and aptitude in piano playing and composition.
