Natalia Ricci - Senior Lecturer in Piano

About Teacher

My teaching draws on my own diverse training abroad for many years in several different countries, gleaning ideas from various pianistic ‘schools’: Russian, Hungarian, French, German and Czech as well as my interest and training in theatre and dance, allowing me to take the best from all these traditions and disciplines and combine them into my own eclectic and multi-faceted style. Over the past decade I have pursued my passion for, and research into Spanish music and, while I cover a huge range of repertoire and styles in my teaching, I also endeavour to introduce my students to the rich and vibrant repertoire of the great Spanish nationalist composers, (De Falla, Albeniz, Granados, Turina. etc) which is rarely played or understood here in Australia. In doing so, my hope is to impart an understanding of the influence of flamenco and other Spanish dance forms in this important body of the piano literature as well as knowledge of the cultural/artistic background and inspirational sources of the music, so vital for pianists in helping inform their approach to its performance and arrive at a deeper more authentic interpretation. My dedication and passion for teaching and commitment to my students are well recognised. Each student comes to me with a unique set of goals, hopes, dreams, strengths and problems. It is always a welcome challenge for me to help them grow, understand themselves, fulfil their potential and find their own musical pathway on which they can set forth with confidence, joy and above all a love and passion for music and the piano.
