About Teacher
Lisa Ray is a qualified and experienced piano teacher, offering piano lessons from her studio in Padbury, or on a mobile basis to students’ homes. Lisa is a Teaching member of the West Australian Music Teachers’ Assocation. I am a Primary school teacher in Perth, W.A. with ten years experience teaching Pre-Primary to Year 6 with a particular passion for teaching early years students age 4+. In addition to teaching Music and in schools, I also teach Yoga and Meditation to children and adults. I have been playing piano since the age of 7 and have completed all Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music performance exams up to and including Grade 8 and Grade 6 music theory. Combining my ten years experience in Education with my love of music, I have an ABRSM Diploma in Instrumental Education (Piano). I am particularly passionate about the positive impact music and instrumental playing can have on our wellbeing. I believe that the presence of music in one’s life and engagement with an instrument can have a therapeutic effect and truly benefit the holistic development of children and adults. Your piano lesson will mainly be based at the piano with lots of playing in order to build a repertoire of a variety of genres and encourage musicianship but will also include some input on written music theory/notation and aural exercises. Collaboration with students is important for me as a teacher, to prepare an individualised program of learning based on your goals and reasons for taking up Piano tuition. It is expected that you will have a piano/keyboard available and will be able to make time for practising between lessons; 15 minutes 4-5 times per week is ideal. Short, frequent practices are the best way to see progress! I host lessons in my home or travel to your home (which will incur an additional surcharge, depending on distance). I have up to date Working with Children Check, police clearance certificates, first aid certificates with a clean drivers licence.General Information
