About Teacher
I began my musical studies at the Juan Manuel Olivares Music School in Caracas, Venezuela. From 1983-1987 I attended courses at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. In 1988 I won a scholarship to continue my studies in the former USSR and completed my Master of Music Degree and Degree as a Violin Concert Performer & Teacher. I graduated from the Yerevan State Conservatorium and have over 30 years of experience in both teaching and performing. I played for many years with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela (El Sistema), Soloists of Venezuela Orchestra, Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and as a soloist with the Penrith Symphony Orchestra.
Since arriving to Australia I have taught at the Australian Institute of Music, Newington College, University of Western Sydney, Burwood Girls High School, and The McDonald College of the Performing Arts. Currently, I teach at UNSW, St. Patrick’s College in Strathfield and government schools. Besides this, I teach privately at my home studio.
I work with students of all levels and ages. I have extensive experience in preparing students from the preliminary grade right through to the AMUSA and LMUSA of the AMEB violin Syllabus and the Suzuki Method. Furthermore, I also teach the traditional violin methods (Hohmann, Laoureux, Doflein, Applebaum) and from the Russian Violin School (Auer, Grigorian, Seagal, Yampolsky, Mostras, Yankelevich) combined with scales and traditional etudes (Mazas, Fiorillo, Kreutzer, Rode, Don’t, Gavinies).
